Have you ever read the Webster’s Dictionary? It is boring, but it is so informative. Words are so important to all of us. Many times I use the dictionary to look up words I am not familiar with, but sometimes, I look up really common words.
I recently looked up the word "thanks." Webster defines it as "gratitude, appreciation, acknowledgment of kindness, or an act of giving thanks."
When I was a boy, the words "thank you" were very common. Maybe we have so much today that we take it all for granted. It may not be as popular or expressed so much in today’s world, but it is still a positive response that does more for you than the person you are thanking.
Mary Crowley used to say, "You cannot be thankful and ungrateful at the same time."
Thank you for taking the time to read this reflection. I feel much better already.
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.
